We have had another fun-filled week in Grade 2! Thank you so much to all of the families who joined us at conferences. Your children were very excited to show you their work.

Literacy (Poetry)
*I can recognize how poetry and song can expand how we think and feel about what can be experienced. 

*I can identify words or phrases used in imaginative ways that support messages in poetry and song.

*I can look at poetic structures, including acrostic poems and rhyming couplets. 

We continued to learn more about the "We're Going on a Lion Hunt" story. Students worked in "reader's theatre" groups to build on their theatric skills. Emphasis was placed on the use of rhythm of the text, expression, pauses, and sound effects. Have your child show you their acting at home.

Math

The Easter Bunny came early to Grade 2, yahoo! The Easter Bunny brought us a math scavenger hunt. Ask your child where they found their egg. Some of our questions included:

Science (Seasons)

Spring has sprung at Sibbald! We welcomed some new "Seasons Museum" provocations in the Learning Commons. We look forward to exploring these more after Spring Break.

Phys Ed (Basketball)

*I can participate in physical activities that can provide personal enjoyment.

*I can show positive interactions with others during physical activity. 

What a week in the gym! Thank you so much to the fabulous "Coach Dave" (Archer's Dad) and "Coach Leanne" (Rylee's Mom) for coaching both classes in the gym. Your skill, patience, and expertise were truly appreciated and fun was had by all.
