Hello Families,
We have had another learning-filled week at Andrew Sibbald School.
Social Studies (Orange Shirt Day)
* I can appreciate multiple points of view, languages, cultures, and experiences within groups and communities.
We are committed to helping staff and students deepen their understanding of Indigenous cultures at Andrew Sibbald School. Our school has committed to acknowledging and supporting the TRC's Calls to Action. Using the Wholistic Lifelong Learning Framework, we committed to building staff and student capacity for intellectual understanding, empathy, and mutual respect. We are committed to:
- Building our collective understanding through stories and picture books.
- Encouraging holistic teaching and learning to thrive while learning from the land in our learning grounds and nearby Fish Creek Park.
- Creating a cultural space and a Season Museum to honor the work and our commitment to truth and reconciliation.
Thank you to our fabulous Grade 5 students who came to all classrooms and taught us more about Orange Shirt Day. These students also led a whole school ceremony on our learning grounds.
Physical Education (Terry Fox)
What an incredible day to celebrate and honor Terry Fox. Thank you to all of the families that joined us.
*I can participate in physical activity in a variety of contexts to improve well-being.
Work Habits & Classroom Citizenship
We continue to work together to make our classrooms the best places they can be. Daily, we have sharing circles focusing on the sharing of ideas, kindness, and respect.
*I am engaged and focused on learning tasks.
*I contribute to classroom discussions.
*I am mindful of personal space, self, and others.
*I follow instructions.
*I keep my personal workspace organized.
*I collaborate with others.
Have a wonderful weekend!
