Seasons Museum
This week our "Seasons Museum" opened in the Learning Commons. The museum will promote thinking around, "What does the land teach us throughout the seasons?" These exploration provocations focused on the Fall equinox. Students will be invited to engage in these hands-on learning opportunities to dig deeper into a variety of learning contexts.
Learning Provocations:
1. Designing an environment for an owl (nest, tree).
- I can explore and investigate seasonal changes.
- I can explore and investigate the needs of animals.
2. Create a leaf person, creature, or critter.
- I can explore plants native to Alberta and Canada.
- I can make an arrangement from found materials.
3. Explore different mark-making techniques to represent the textures observed in Fall items.
- I can explore various ways in which texture can be represented.
- I can draw with accuracy and detail to record my observations.
4. Use Fall items to create a nature mandala.
- I can observe patterns, order, and shapes in nature.
- I can sort natural Autumn materials into patterns.
