Science (Earth Day)
*I can investigate how the living world and Earth are deepened by exploring natural systems and their interactions.
Math
*I can investigate strategies for addition and subtraction of two-digit numbers.
Exciting things are happening in math this week.
Regrouping is a way to subtract a larger number from a smaller number within the same place value column. It is done by taking 10 away from the place value to the left and adding that 10 to the number that needs to be bigger on the right. Have your child practice two-digit subtraction at home.
Social Studies
This week we explored Meteghan. Have your child share how Meteghan is the same and different from Calgary. Students also had a brief introduction to the culture (music) and traditions of Meteghan and were excited to use wooden musical spoons.
Literacy
*I can compare and contrast forms to organize messages.
This week students were excited to explore "The Lorax" text. Students completed a compare and contrast task and reflected on how messages can convey meaning. Ask your child to share 3 facts from the book.
Financial Literacy
*I can practice making money-related decisions in a variety of contexts.
Mrs. Sampson joined us again this week and students explored what makes money unique and different. We learned who is on the Canadian money and the significance. We look forward to planning a budget in the next few weeks.
